by Colleen Lawler

Runners and Walkers This is For You

5kThe 2012 event season for the City of Wildwood is just about comes to a close with the Wildwood Route 66 5K Run/Walk and the Kids Fun Run 1K! November 3, 2012 is the date and is its 11th year. It starts at 8:00 AM sharp and it takes place at the Wildwood Middle School, 17401 Manchester Road, Wildwood, MO 63038. These days there are many running events on any Saturday and Sunday, but the Route 66 5K Run/Walk is slightly different than the rest%u2026it is organized for the participants and their enjoyment! Its a great opportunity to enjoy a Saturday morning outdoors and it's really a great family event. Whether you are a recreational runner, a social walker, or a competitive contender for overall finishing awards, the Route 66 5K Run/Walk will fit your needs! The event offers the opportunity for participants to Run/Walk on Historic Route 66, without the worry of traffic concerns. Walkers are welcome and encouraged! There is no finish time pressure other than what you place on yourself! Just think of the problems you and a partner can solve during a three (3) mile walk!!

With awards for the first five (5) finishers in each age group, it offers a great chance for recreational runners to push their limits a little and maybe bring home an exceptional finisher plaque! Competitive runners should not overlook this race! The course offers a subtle challenge to those in the best physical and running condition! The first three (3) men and women to finish will receive overall prizes!!!

The 5K is followed by a Kids Fun Run 1K! It's quick, fun, and can be finished by everyone! Finisher medals will be given to all participants!! There is no cost for the Fun Run, but please register the young runners, so plans can be made for finisher medals.

There will be plenty of refreshments available before and after the run, Precision Health Group will be on site to address minor aches and pains before and after the run, and music will be provided at the race start/finish to make sure everyone is pumped up and ready for a great event!! This year there will be some fantastic long sleeve performance shirts for the 5K participants, but there is a limited supply%u2026 so register early! Registration can be accomplished in three (3) ways:

1. Online at (the preferred method of registration).

2. Print out a registration form from the City of Wildwood Website, fill it out, and mail it to Route 66 5K Run/Walk, 183 Plaza Drive, Wildwood, MO 63040.

3. Enter the race on race day at Wildwood Middle School, 17401 Manchester Road, Wildwood, MO 63038.

This event will take place no matter what the weather, but don't worry! Packet pickup, available refreshments, restrooms, and awards, are all indoors! Call Andrea or Gary with any questions about this event at (636) 458-0440.

Positive Trends Continue

by Colleen Lawler

Even with the distractions of upcoming elections and October baseball (GO CARDS!), Key metrics in St Louis County show a continuing trend toward "normal."  One year changes for the 3rd quarter are as follows:

Median Sale Price       +2.3%

Average Sale Price      +3.8%

Homes for Sale           -25.4%

Closed Sales               +12.6%

Months Supply            -36.2%

Days on Market          -11.3%

This data represents all of St Louis County.  Certainly some areas are still struggling, others are doing better than these statistics show.  No matter the market, over the years it seems there are always "hot" and "cold" areas, neighborhoods, and price ranges.

First time buyers are realizing that they can truly buy for less than they can rent. They are gradually re-entering the market.

Soon-to-be retirees are seeing enough of a rebound in their home equity and the stock market to make the move they put off 3 years ago.    Whether it's to enjoy a warm climate or to be closer to grandchildren, baby boomers are back in the market.

Even with this trend, it's hard not to wonder if there's another dip, trough, or cliff...whatever you want to call it...lurking in the near future.  But with each passing month, all the data says that we are moving in the right direction.

Now if the Cardinals can just keep on winning...12 in 12 has a good ring to it, doesn't it?
